Contactless payments

You can use your credit card to make contactless payments. This is a quick way to pay small amounts. You can do this at all payment terminals that show the contactless symbol and the Visa or Mastercard logo. This helps you pay faster.

How contactless payments work

The first time you make a contactless payment, you need to enter your PIN. After that, you can pay often pay without a PIN. Here’s how it works:

  1. Check the amount and hold your credit card close to the payment terminal
  2. The terminal will show if the payment was successful

Paying without a PIN

You can make contactless payments with or without your PIN. The following rules apply:

  • In Europe you can pay up to € 50 per transaction without a PIN. The exact limit may depend on the settings of the shop’s terminal.
  • If you pay more than € 150 in total without using your PIN, you will be asked to enter your PIN.

Please note: outside Europe, different limits may apply.

Secure and reliable

  • For safety, you will sometimes need to enter your PIN again after several payments.
  • Contactless payments made after your card is lost or stolen are usually refunded. Please check the General Terms and Conditions of your ABN AMRO Credit Card for more information.
